THE League of Friends of Launceston Hospital and Community summer fete was held at the hospital on Saturday, July 12. The event was opened by Mary Butler, who has been a regular visitor to patients at the hospital for many years. She was presented with a basket of flowers by young Jack Lang. Despite changeable weather the fete was well supported and the stalls did brisk business. Throughout the afternoon Launceston Town Band and a group of young girls called the 'Melodeons' entertained. There was also face painting for children, sideshows, guess the weight of the sheep, raffles, and cream teas. For the full report, and a round up of the latest area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
