FIVE members of the Bude and Holsworthy Tae Kwon-Do club took part in the TAGB West of England Championships in Paignton. The five (pictured) took on others from their respective categories, in sparring and patterns.

Julie Carlos fought fiercely in the final, and managed to take the silver medal in the Ladies' yellow belt middle weight category.

Paul Heneghan narrowly missed out on a place in the play offs in the Men's yellow belt patterns, the largest single division on the day.

Keith Merrifield easily stole the Gold in the Men's light weight green belt sparring.

After a disappointing performance in the patterns event, Dan Cooper recovered his composure to secure bronze in the yellow belt Boy's sparring.

Joe Heneghan came away with silver in the patterns and a smile like a Cheshire Cat.

Club Instructor Guy Southard says of his students; "The TAGB is the largest martial art organisation in Europe, with over 25,000 members in Britain, and even at this regional level we traditionally attract over 500 competitors. For these five to come away with such a high number of accolades speaks very strongly of their level of personal standard and commitment, especially when you consider that four of them have never seen a competition before let alone taken part in one, even Keith has only competed once before."
