BUDE Coastguard Rescue Team were paged just after 4pm on Sunday afternoon, following reports of a young male having fallen down the cliff at Compass Point, south of Summerleaze beach.
The team were paged at 4.03pm on Sunday, along with paramedics, Rescue 924 (the coastguard rescue helicopter, based in Newquay) and the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Arriving on scene, members of Bude Coastguard Rescue Team made their way to the casualty, who was caught in a gully, approximately 20-feet from the ground, and accompanied by his friend. Whilst team members remained in sight of the casualty and monitored his condition, the winchman from Rescue 924 was lowered into the gully to administer first aid.
Having stabilised the casualty, Rescue 924 then winched the casualty, his friend and the winchman on board the helicopter.
Following an initial decision by Rescue 924 to winch the casualties onto the beach next to Whale Rock, just to the south west of the Breakwater, and have team members recover the casualty from there to paramedics, rescue team members cleared an area in anticipation.
However, following a closer inspection of the beach, Rescue 924 decided instead to deliver the casualty to a land ambulance that was in position at Bude Rugby Club.
Having transferred the casualty to the ambulance, all coastguard units were stood down.
