BUDE Coastguard Rescue Team were called to assist paramedics with the rescue and recovery of a male with a suspected head injury at Strangles Beach, near Crackington Haven, over the weekend.

Falmouth Coastguard Operations Centre paged Bude Coastguard Rescue Team just after 3pm on Saturday, January 21, to assist paramedics with the rescue and recovery of a male with a suspected head injury at Strangles beach. Boscastle CRT were also paged.

Arriving on scene, members of the Bude team made their way on to the beach and liaised with Cornwall Air Ambulance paramedics, who had landed on the beach and were tending to the casualty.

With the paramedics recovering the casualty to the helicopter, the Bude team members set about creating a safe zone from which the air ambulance could depart the scene, and onward to the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

Once the helicopter had left the scene of the incident, members from both teams escorted the casualty’s partner back up the cliff path to waiting family members.

Both rescue teams were stood down just after 4pm.
