STUDENTS at Launceston College celebrated their excellent GCSE results last week, with 68% of students gaining A*-C grades in English and maths — an increase on last year’s results.
Launceston College MAT executive principal, Jack Jackson, said: “We were delighted last year when Launceston College students’ achievements topped the performance tables in Cornwall.
“This year’s Launceston College students have exceeded that outstanding performance.
“It is impressive to see what young people can achieve when they work hard and are taught well.”
Launceston College principal, Bryan Maywood, said: “All of us at Launceston College are feeling overjoyed for our students this year. They have worked consistently for five years in order to achieve these outstanding grades.
“This is a credit to the students who have worked so hard, the outstanding teachers who have taught them and all the support they have received from their families — they are a credit to the Launceston community.”
There were many fantastic individual stories including Louis March, Lucinda Davies and Nick Adams, gaining 35 A* and A grades between them, including an impressive 30 A* results.
Charlie Paul, Laura Soddy and Ellie Jones were also celebrating with an amazing range of A* and A grade GCSEs.
The college re-opens to students on Tuesday, September 6, following sixth form induction for Year 12 on Thursday, September 1, and for Year 13 on Friday, September 2.
