A town mayor is urging residents to have their say about the lack of dental provision in the Camelford area.
The only dentist in Camelford, Highfield Dental Practice, closed around two years ago and since then Camelford Forum has been battling to get some form of dental provision reinstated in the area.
Residents from Camelford and surrounding areas, including Port Isaac, St Breward, Tintagel and Delabole, now have to travel to Bude or Wadebridge to see a dentist.
Working alongside NHS England, the forum has launched a public consultation.
Camelford mayor Andy Shaw told the Post a dental service was 'essential' in an area, which has a growing population of around 14,000.
"Residents are having to travel 20 odd miles for a dentist. School children lose half a day of education by the time they travel to and from the dentist for a ten-minute appointment. It's not fair on their well-being or education to go this far.
"Camelford covers a large area, including Boscastle, Delabole, Camelford, St Teath, Tintagel and as far as St Clether and St Breward, and everyone should have their say."
