RELIEVED residents in Lydbrook have been told that the stretch of road that has been closed for several months to traffic, due to the flood alleviation work by Amey construction, will partially reopen to vehicles on July 3.

The roadworks in Upper Lydbrook will then be reduced to one lane, allowing two-way traffic lights to be installed.

The company are said to be hoping to completely reopen the road two weeks after that.

However, residents have pointed out that, despite the village main road being closed for over three months, the over-run being said to be due to the discovery of a 'private sewer' intersecting with the culverted stream, the Lydbrook roadworks have still yet to appear on the Gloucerstershire County Council roadworks notices on their website.

•Drivers hoping to use the old Severn Bridge this weekend may experience delays – as the entire eastbound carriageway will be closed from Saturday (June 27) at 6am to Sunday (June 28) at 6pm.
