ST GILES Community Lunch Club held its Christmas lunch in the Coronation Hall on Wednesday, December 20.

Forty-two people sat down to a three-course meal of soup or prawn cocktail, roast turkey and all the trimmings followed by fruit cocktail or Christmas pudding, tea and coffee and sweets and crackers.

The meal was wonderfully cooked and prepared by the club cook, Wendy Bendell, and all of her helpers.

Thanks were also expressed to Shelley Vanstone from Launceston’s Tesco branch who gave her time and help.

Tesco also provided some of the food for which the club was most grateful.

During the lunch, happy birthday was sung to Mrs Florrie Hodge on the occasion of her 96th birthday.

To mark the occasion, she was presented with a bunch of flowers by club chairman, Ken Hamlyn.

A well-laden raffle was held and those that attended went home very full and happy.

A vote of thanks was given to Wendy and Shelley all of the helpers for help making the day such a great success.
