LAUNCESTON Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with 65 town centre businesses and the Cornish & Devon Post to introduce the 'Love Launceston' loyalty card.
Officially launching tomorrow (Friday), this new card will offer a range of discounts and special offers at participating businesses. Offers will vary from business to business, with each setting their own discount or special deal.
Paul Loft from the Chamber of Commerce said: "We believe this to be one of the most significant things to happen in Launceston in terms of businesses working together. To get so many businesses joining forces to offer something of real value to their customers is simply amazing, and we are really pleased that so many are taking part.
"We believe it is important for local people to use their local shops, and wanted to develop a scheme which would reward our regular and loyal customers for continuing to shop with us. We also wanted to address the thorny issue of the cost of parking in the town and by choosing to shop in the businesses taking part in the scheme it will now be very easy to save at least the cost of a couple of hours parking.
"We have even bigger plans for the scheme in the future and already have a list of businesses waiting to join us in June. There are also plans to link the scheme directly in with the car park ticket machines and develop the Love Launceston theme further.
"But this week is all about our launch and making sure the scheme gets off the ground successfully. The whole Love Launceston team have worked hard for many months to get the project right, and we believe we have a loyalty card scheme which will have genuine appeal for the people of Launceston.
"We are very grateful for the support we have received from our partners and sponsors, especially the 'Post', Specsavers, Barclays, Gavin Mounce of Kenetic Design, our four local councillors Sasha Gillard-Loft, Alex Folkes, Phil Parsons and Adam Paynter, Cornwall Council Town Centre Manager Guy Thomas, the town council and Paul at Fernbank Advertising. It is only this team effort that has enabled us to deliver the project."
People are bound to have questions about a new project like this, so members of the Love Launceston team will be on hand in the town square on Friday and Saturday from 10am until 3pm to hand out cards and answer any questions.
