THE Camelford Slimming World group’s trade stand was attracting a lot of new members at the show, providing an insight into the goals that can be achieved.
Armed with chocolate nibbles and non-alcoholic Pimms — made with diet lemonade, traditional Pimms fruit and an odd but delicious additive, balsamic vinegar — Julie Ferris, leader of the Camelford group, was delighted to welcome new and old members to the trade stand, promoting Slimming World and the Camelford group.
Among the Camelford group were ladies who have lost up to 12st, showing what a bit of determination, motivation and support can do.
Julie, who has lost a total of 9st herself since joining, discussed healthy recipes and chatted to show-goers.
Some were already members, who came along to support their group, whereas others were curious of what Slimming World has to offer, and many new members were seen joining the group on the day.
Julie said: “We’re just trying to promote healthy eating and exercise. We’ve seen a few members here today, which is great, and also some new members or even just people who are coming along to have a look and want to get in touch.”
This was the first time Slimming World has visited Camelford Show, and, despite the rain, Julie was feeling positive about the day.
She added: “It’s our first year of any show ever! It’s been really good for our first show, and the great thing about it is that it’s part of the community — this is Camelford, and that’s where this group is based. It’s nice to be out and about and meeting new people.”
