DUE to the inclement weather experienced by most of the country on March 1 and 2, the North Devon Hospice’s outreach centre The Long House in Holsworthy decided to postpone group sessions — but continued to provide support to those in need.
The group sessions, scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, were postponed after the weather restricted travel for patients and carers alike.
However, the hospice’s support teams kept in contact with patients and families via phone in order to provide support where needed.
The community team, who provide care round the clock, reached out to patients that needed their support and were able to maintain the vast majority of care services the hospice provides throughout the adverse weather.
A spokesperson said: “It is testament to our nurses and counsellors who have made sure there has minimal disruption to services.”
