EIGHTEEN months after hard work and community persistence, the people of Lewannick were able to unveil the new play park at the weekend.

The existing play equipment was in need of investment or renewing, so a group of parents working with the parish council and village hall committee formed themselves into the 'Lewannick Play Park Regeneration Committee' (LPPRC).

A spokesperson for LPPRC said: "It has taken over 15 months of consulting with residents of all ages in the parish to decide upon the design and equipment for the new play park.

"Funding was quite a challenge, but finally secured with ground work cost reduced thanks to the active support of the group and other volunteers. SITA Cornwall trust has provided the lion's share of the funding with a grant of £30,000."
