LEISURE Connection has named Debbie Webber, of Okehampton, swim teacher of the year for her hard work and dedication to her students and the centre throughout the past year.

Ms Webber, swim teacher of the year, said: "I am so thrilled to have been voted swim teacher of the year by my peers. It is always a pleasure to help and support my students and I take immense pride when they finally overcome their boundaries and learn to swim after so many years, like Pat did. I look forward to more years here at Parklands Okehampton."

One of the reasons for her nomination was her work with local lady Pat Cole, who, following a heart attack three years ago, joined the leisure centre to take part in swimming lessons so that she could finally learn to swim.
