ON THE evening of Thursday, September 1 the Rotary Club of Launceston presented cheques to eight local organisations.

Rotarian Peter Casey opened the proceedings by welcoming all of the guests, and said: "The shop was opened on Monday, August 1 and we have received fantastic support from the local community. The purpose of this evening is to do what we said at the beginning — to return the profits of our first month's trading to the local community."

Rotary President Leighton Penhale then presented cheques to Launceston Memory Café (£500); Launceston Monday Club (£500); Launceston Hospital League of Friends (£500); Launceston 'The Unit' Skate Park (£500); Launceston St John Ambulance (£500); Launceston Southgate Football Club (Colts, £500); Launceston Orchard Youth Project (£500) and the soon to be launched Launceston Foodbank (£1,000).
