LIZZY Kirby was so upset when she heard that the Coca Cola truck wasn’t coming to North Devon that she decided to build her own version.

She had the iconic Santa put on the side of her cart and with the aid of her ponies Peanut (dressed as a reindeer) and Nutmeg (dressed as Santa) she took her replica to Holsworthy Carnival where she and her helpers including Ella the elf took first prize in the decorated wheeled vehicle (not motorised) class.

Lizzy said: “It was a shame about the weather, but it didn’t dampen our spirits. Lots of people turned out to cheer us all on too and we had great fun.”
