THE members of the Launceston Community Transport Partnership — 'The Little Red Bus' — are celebrating the acquisition of a second vehicle.
The new vehicle, a 16-seater Mercedes, is a gift from Cornwall Council which no longer requires it.
Partnership vice-chairman Paul O'Brien said: "However, despite the council's well-publicised financial position they declined to sell it to the highest bidder — whether that was our partnership or anyone else — but instead chose to simply transfer its ownership without charge; an act of great generosity for which we are very grateful.
"The vehicle is admittedly 10 years old, with many thousands of miles 'on the clock' but has always been scrupulously maintained and we believe it will provide us — and all its future passengers — with an excellent service."
