HOLSWORTHY and District Lions Club has donated a total of £1,100 to three causes.

Bude Nippers and the Friends of Bude Sea Pool were each given £500.

Bude Nippers, who are trained by qualified coaches and part of the Bude Surf Live Saving Club, take part in a variety of beach and surf activities and are taught how to use rescue craft in the sea.

Friends of Bude Sea Pool was formed in 2011 and took on day-to-day management of the sea pool in 2012.

A further £100 was donated to Kevin O'Reilly of 'Cornish Kilimanjaro Capers'.

Mr O'Reilly, of 1st Bude Scouts, is raising money for CHICKS — Country Holidays for Inner City Kids — by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa's highest mountain at 5,895 metres, in a kilt.

The money was donated at the club's social meeting on October 16.
