GET out that flapper dress and cloche hat, pull on those bell-bottom trousers — it's time to celebrate, 1920s-style . . .

Following the success of last year's 'Old Time Music Hall' production and 1940s show, Launceston Lions and volunteers have been working hard to bring the roaring 1920s back to life.

Producer Margaret Parker and choreographer Sherry Bosdet are at the helm to ensure authenticity and humour in abundance for this year's showpiece.

From Showboat to Charleston; Charlie Chaplin to Jolson; Ragtime to a World War One tribute, and even tap dancers, there will be much to entertain.

Launceston Lions president Helen Bailey said: "Rehearsals have been underway for some time and although hard work it is the fun and friends made doing this kind of event that is most enjoyable.

"Please feel free to join in the atmosphere and come in 1920s dress.

"All the funds raised from the show will be used to support Lions projects, and every penny counts."

2014 also marks a very special anniversary for Launceston Lions, as they celebrate 40 years of service in the town.

Helen added: "Since 1974 there have been Lions working within the community here in Launceston and they are a small, but vital, part of an international organisation with clubs in 208 countries around the world with 1.35-million members. Come and see what fun the Lions have at the 1920s show."

The show is at Launceston Town Hall on Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15, with curtain up at 7.30pm. There is also a licensed bar.

Tickets cost £9 per person and can be purchased from David Parish Menswear.
