MEMBERS of the Launceston Lions Club were amongst those from the South West who gathered at Torquay recently for the annual district convention.
Launceston Lions Club Secretary, Christine Rowe said: "We were hearing about the devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami which was affecting Japan.
"During the weekend we were informed that the Lions Clubs International Foundation had sent $1.25 million or 100 million Japanese yen to the Japanese Lions to enable them to start providing necessary urgent supplies of food and water."
