FOLLOWING an appeal from Dr Jamie Read, a consultant in elderly care at Derriford Hospital, Launceston Lions has put out an appeal for donations basic toiletries for patients.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions visitors have not been able to bring such items in. In response the Launceston Lions Club created a new appeal.

Lions’ president Christine Rowe said: “Tesco very kindly donated a large bag of items and Poundland launched an appeal to ask their customers to purchase an item and these would be donated.”

Some of the items will also be donated to the hard working NHS staff, in appreciation of their tireless work during these past few months.

Christine continued: “There will also be donations made to our local hospital, as there are patients there from outside our area.

“In fact, currently, at this time, patients are very often in hospitals away from their own area, so this makes even the dropping off, of any items very difficult.”

The club is looking for any locations where these items could be donated and collected. These can then be collected and sent to the hospitals.
