BODMIN St Methodist Church, Holsworthy, was one of 20 settings throughout North Devon for a ‘Light Up a Life’ service on Saturday, December 9, writes Christine Williams.

These services, organised annually during Advent, give people a chance to remember someone they love at Christmastime.

As they entered, people were given candles, which were lit during the singing of the first carol, and during the service cards in remembrance of family members, friends and loved ones who have passed away were placed on the ‘Christmas Tree of Memory’.

The service was conducted by the Rev Martin Keenan who gave a short address and representatives from North Devon Hospice and Children’s Hospice South West were present.

After the service, tea and coffee were served and there was an opportunity to look at the special books of remembrance containing the names of loved ones. The organist was Martyn Squire.
