Lifton Hall Hotel is run by co-owners Robert Fleming and Richard Elworthy. They took over the running ten years ago and celebrated their anniversary on Wednesday, October 26.
Devon is renowned for its top-notch produce and the passion of the people who work in the industry. The Devon Life Food and Drink awards champion this success to celebrate those local food establishments who strive for the best.
Mr Fleming said: “We have had a visit and have been filmed and are just waiting on the results on Thursday. Over the last ten years we have had a very good following for our Sunday lunches. I am very proud of our facilities, we have a very cosy atmosphere and the dining room is great for bigger groups or functions. To get in the top three you had to be nominated. Since then it has been a case of mobilising the troops to gain votes.”
Mr Fleming explained that they try and ensure the produce they use is locally sourced, he said: “We try and use as much local produce and fresh local veg as we can. We pride ourselves on having seven vegetables with our Sunday lunches We have upped our presentation as well and always take care with our food making most of the dishes here. Indifferent isn’t a word we use with regards to our food and we strive for perfection. People are also able to join our Sunday lunch club where those who eat with us collect stamps until they earn a free lunch.”
Voting has now closed for the 2016 Devon Life Food and Drink Awards, but the results will be announced today (Thursday) at Sandy Park.
