FOLLOWING on from their success at Devon County Show, Lifton Farm Shop hopped over the border to the Royal Cornwall Show last week, where they scooped a large gold medal for their ‘Hungry Caterpillar’ display. The display filled the floral marquee with colour, and had been added to since it won silver gilt in Devon last month. Lucy Bounsall, Lifton Farm Shop assistant manager, explained there was also a public vote at the show, which they hoped to do well in. “It’s a lot of work, but it’s nice to get something to top it off.” Other horticultural section local results included: Flower Show competitive classes: hanging basket — 3, P Knight, Lezant; Window box — 1, P Knight; Patio container — 2, P Knight. Hanging pouch with most colour — 1 and 2, P Knight.

Floral Art: Elevated art — 2, C Harrington, Rilla Mill; 3, P Knight. Duchy of Cornwall — 2, P Knight. State occasion — 2, C Harrington.

Otterham Primary School was Very Highly Commended for their tray of herbs growing in china for the tea table.

Best window box certificate was awarded to Philip Knight and the silver jubilee challenge rose bowl was awarded to Christine Harrington.
