THE Launceston Macmillan Cancer Support group held a duck race and fete in Lifton on Sunday, August 25 to raise funds for the charity.

The day was a huge success, with lots of visitors making their way to the community field in Lifton, accompanied by pleasant weather. There was lots for everyone to do, with plenty of traders holding stalls, ‘meet a minion’, a bouncy castle, face painting, two duck races, a fun dog show plus entertainment from Launceston Pop Choir, who sang lots of popular songs for everyone to enjoy.

Sarah Mulvaney from the Launceston Macmillan fundraising group said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to S R Motoring for sponsoring the duck race and also Hogsbottom Preserves for sponsoring our human fruit machine — their support is greatly appreciated.”

During the event, a very brave lady called Mandy Roberts had her hair shaved, and although separate from the fete, has raised around £500 so far for Macmillan. The duck race and fete raised a total of £635 altogether.
