SARAH B Marsh-Rebelo, who lives in both Cornwall and California, has recently published her first book of poetry, ‘Over My Shoulder’, which is now available to buy in Bude.

Mrs Marsh-Rebelo has always enjoyed words, keeping a diary from the age of five and her mother quoting poetry on a daily basis.

Being raised in London, Mrs Marsh-Rebelo moved to the USA at the age of 21, later giving birth to her son in Hawaii and moving back to California seven years later, to persue her dream of returning to college.

Among her degrees, Mrs Marsh-Rebelo has gained an MFA in Creative Writing, and the writer is also a trained instructor in the Amherst Writers Method.

‘Over My Shoulder’ encourages strength and positivity during times where life can offer negativity and present challenges. The book also promotes the importance of surrounding yourself with family and friends.

Mrs Marsh-Rebelo said: “It is a known fact that all writers start with drawing from your life experiences.”

Dedicated to her family, ‘Over My Shoulder’ features a mixture of light-hearted and heavy poetry, and Mrs Marsh-Rebelo hopes that her work will be relatable to many of her readers, including readers in Bude.

She is currently hopping from California to Cornwall with her husband, John, and she is finishing off her latest children’s book, telling the story of a rabbit.
