THE results of the five seats within Torridge for Devon County Council saw two UKIP councillors elected in the north of the region.
After a count which started promptly at 10am on Friday, the results were:
Bideford South and Hartland was announced at 10:45am with Robin Julian (UKIP) elected with 944 votes.
Torrington Rural was retained by Andy Boyd (Conservative), Andrew Eastman (Conservative) kept his seat in Northam.
There was no change in Holsworthy Rural with Barry Parsons (Conservative) winning but in Bideford East, Gaston Dezart (UKIP) defeated Sam Robinson (Conservative) by 35 votes.
Mr Parsons took 1,912 votes, from Penny Mills (UKIP) on 1,548 in a seat with five candidates.
The overall voter turnout was 29.3 per cent with 17,271 votes cast from an electorate of 59,043.
In West Devon, Conservative James Raymond Mcinnes gained Hatherleigh and Chagford, from Alan Gross (UKIP) on 1,195.
Okehampton Rural went to Kevin Ball (Conservative), receiving 1,477 from UKIP's Daniel Pledger on 1,156.
The turnout for the West Devon divisions was 34.22 per cent.
