THE seventh Lezant Boundary Walk took place on bank holiday Monday, May 29, in dry, muggy weather.

Walkers met at Greystone Bridge at 8.30am. The 16 and a half-mile route followed the River Tamar and passed through Carthamartha Woods to Inney Foot where walkers crossed the river using a cleverly designed temporary bridge.

At Beals Mill others joined the group of adults, children and dogs, following the Inney under Wooda Bridge, through Trekenner Mill, Lower Trecarrell, Trefrize and Ruses Mill.

The owners of Ruses Mill then guided walkers through their land and on to Drinnick ground after which the route climbed uphill through Bottonnett.

The remainder of the route passed through Prickhams, Trewarlett, Trekelland, Tregada, Lanue Barton, and past Roundhill Cottages back to Greystone Bridge.

There were 44 participants walked as little or much of the route as they wished and proceeded at a leisurely pace enjoying refreshments along the way provided by landowners.

Fourteen completed the entire route in a total time of nine hours and 19 minutes. All who had joined the walk for any distance were presented with a commemorative mug.

The even provided an opportunity to talk over private land, which would not have been possible without the support of the landowners. Thanks were expressed to all those who provided refreshments, built bridges and guided walkers through various sections.

It’s traditional for the event to take place every five years, so the group are looking forward to doing it all again in 2022.
