CHILDREN in floral attire led a procession to the May Pole in Lewannick on Monday, May 6 for the annual celebration of May Day.

Around 500 people turned out in great support, warming their faces in the sun and watching the traditional dance around the May Pole, an event the village has celebrated since around 1995.

Among the usual events of the day, there were many stalls with a great variety of products on show and for sale.

This year even saw a giant bouncy castle, kindly donated free of charge for the event, and a bronco billy mechanical sheep, both popular with the crowds young and young at heart alike.
