Sir, It is absolutely ridiculous to say that the letter in reply to the council's 'concerns' over the change of licence of Tenby Sailing Club was, and I quote, 'riddled with inaccuracies', because it was full of facts. The points highlighted such as licensing hours already being 2300 - fact. The issue of noise - fact. Harriet's House charity night - fact. Not having 50 extra weddings or events - fact. Changing the licence to save the club in the long run - fact. Negating the extra money having to put on the lower bar for the summer spectaculars to support it and the blues night - fact. So not riddled with inaccuracies at all. All facts. It is a shame that the council didn't have all the facts in their possession before talking about it at a meeting. Maybe they should have asked for it as an agenda item, ask for the facts from the Sailing Club and have a representative there, before jumping in with both feet in their mouths and starting to drown. However, in the reply in last week's Observer, Clr Trisha Putwain didn't highlight the inaccuracies' that there were claimed to be. I would comment on them, but as they were not listed, there can't actually be any, can there? Maybe there was one, that the council is anti-business/diversity. Maybe it is just one or two. Apparently even some of the actual members of the club did object to the club and to the CC. However, after explaining why we have had to take this route and they were given the facts, their minds were put at ease, plus they only objected in the first place as somebody was spreading rumours around the harbour that we were applying for a licence until 0300, having bands in every weekend and basically turning it into a bikers bar (I do hope it wasn't anyone in a position of power). Nothing could be further from the fact, as after 1900, the club will be for members only, as before. Close at a sensible time as before. So to the outside, nothing is going to change, while on the inside we will be saving money so we can keep going for the members to use. It would be very sad to see the Sailing Club close down and therefore have to stop the adult and children sail training. The club is striving to be a sailing centre of excellence and unless all plans are put in place, it would be for nothing. There is a saying that is so right on this occasion - 'if you don't use it, you will lose it'. And no the name was put at the bottom of the last letter as it was written on behalf of the vast majority of the club who are trying to keep it going and moving forward.
