A COFFEE morning marking the first use of the Launceston branch of the Royal British Legion's new Edymead Social Centre was held last Wednesday, to the great delight of members.
The Edymead Trust bought the old police station on Westgate Street last year, with Cornwall Council permitting its refurbishment in October with money from the proceeds of the sale of the previous RBL and ex-servicemen's club on Tavistock Road.
Thanks to a massive effort on everyone's part, the building now boasts a large feature room with adjoining modern kitchen, perfect for coffee mornings and other events, as well as an office in which it is hoped a drop-in service — as part of the RBL's new Pathway to Growth programme — could be held, alongside other Launceston branch work.
