ONE of the candidates in the Teignmouth Town Council elections says he is 'astonished' that two long-serving councillors are refusing to take the platform at a hustings meeting he has organised.

Cllr Paul Burgess arranged the event for the six east ward candidates, but former mayors Cllr Sylvia Russell and Cllr Vince Fusco said they will not take part.
