A FORMER Holsworthy College pupil, who aims to become a professional actor, has written a blog for a national charity on the subject.
Nineteen-year-old Lee Campion lived in Holsworthy for ten years and studied at Holsworthy Community College, following on to Petroc for two years to study performing arts.
He also took part in a short local film called 'Salt', which was shot in Clovelly and went on to festivals.
Since moving to London in 2013, Lee has worked at the O2 Arena, New Wimbledon Theatre and is currently working front of house at Mamma Mia in the West End, to keep him afloat.
He has auditioned for Hollyoaks, a commercial for McDonald's, mobile app series Rick and Rat Go To Thailand and various other smaller projects.
He became involved with national charity Mencap as a friend of his, Ciara Lawrence, who has a learning disability and works for the charity, suggested he help out.
Lee decided to write a blog about the lack of artists in the performing arts industry, who have a learning disability.
He said: "I've always been interested in helping charities but never could find one where I could fully lend me help and knowledge. Mencap covers so many topics that It just felt right to volunteer there.
"I never claimed to know anything about Mencap or someone having a learning disability, all I knew was there was a very limited amount of artists in the industry with a learning disability. So that's when the ball started rolling and we created this blog.
