WITH many years experience under her collar, Layla the rehomed Bernese mountain dog from Sutcombe, continued her winning streak at Crufts this year.
Layla — Kennel Club name Tamarbern Dusky Maiden — and her human, Chris Wood from Sutcombe, were placed first at the 2016 Crufts show and were hoping for continued success this year
Chris said she was ‘thrilled’ that Layla had ‘done the double at Crufts’ by winning the ‘good citizen’ dog scheme class for Bernese Mountain dogs.
Since becoming a veteran, at the age of seven in October, Layla has received a ‘best veteran in show’ and a ‘reserve veteran in show’ as well as eight ‘best working group veteran’ wins.
At the Ladies Kennel Club Championship show she gained ‘best veteran in breed’ and has also achieved three ‘best in shows’ at Companion Dog Shows.
Owner Chris Woods said: “She is my constant companion, best friend and since rehoming her due to her previous owner having to return her to her breeder in Plymouth, we began showing for socialisation and learnt together.
“I am so thrilled she has represented the West Country so well again amongst quality and international exhibits.”
