LAST Friday, Launcestson saw the crowds turn out for the town's late night shopping event.

With plenty to see and do, there was something for everyone.

Steve Jones of Launceston Chamber of Commerce said: "The night went very well, it was a little bit late starting but worth waiting for.

"The town band and the samba band were good, one lady said to me, it was the best procession she had ever seen, even better than some of the carnivals."

Steve continued: "The feedback from the stalls was good, even thoughmoney was not flowing as readily as in the previous years, people were still spending.

"There was plenty of people around, a very good turnout and the weather being dry helped, even though it was cold it wasn't raining, as it had for the past two years.

"The Junior Town Crier Competition was a bit sparse and not as good as it has been, however, Father Christmas was very busy in his grotto with over 100 children visiting him."

Steve added: "The chestnuts proved to be very popular as I found shells all over the ground.

"The general overall remark was that the night was very good and the camels were definitely a huge hit!"
