LAUNCESTON Young Farmers' Club entered two teams in the annual county entertainments competition; this year being cabaret.
The club's singing group — 'Sea Shandy' — wowed the crowd and judges with their harmonies and musical expertise, whilst the team of skilful skippers, known as 'Rope Burn', not only demonstrated originality, but also teamwork, co-ordination and physical fitness, when performing under ultraviolet lighting.
With both teams reaching the county final at the Hall for Cornwall in Truro, the pressure was on to make it through to Mike Meer's county team! To be feeling nervous was an understatement, but the hard work certainly paid off as both acts were chosen for the county team.
Not only this, but 'Rope Burn' was placed second overall, marginally beaten by Camelford's 'Girls Next Door'. Huge congratulations to both cast and trainers for working so incredibly hard; they should all be extremely proud. The next cabaret round, which is the South West area competition, will be held on Sunday, March 13 at the Hall for Cornwall.
