A WARM welcome was extended from Launceston Town Council to people of the town at the authority's Mayor Choosing Ceremony on Thursday. Cllr Rob Tremain and Cllr Dave Gordon were sworn in as Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the town respectively last year, and their fellow members of the council had no qualms when it came to re-electing them for another term, following the excellent progress made in the previous 12 months.
Cllr Tremain said: "Thank you to Eric (Chapman) and Tony (Sandercock) for your kind words in proposing me for a second term in office. Thank you to our town clerk, Rita, and all the Launceston Town Council staff; to my fellow councillors and my chaplain, for all your help and advice during the year.
"Pat and I have had an enjoyable time as Mayor and Mayoress, and have been proud to represent Launceston at many varied occasions. My special thanks to the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress, Dave and Carol Gordon, who have been more than willing to take on all that has been asked of them. I hope they have enjoyed all they have done during the past year."
