THERE was laughter among Launceston Town Councillors last week, when they learned of the locations for public enquiry events regarding the parliamentary boundary review.
The Boundary Commission for England is currently reviewing parliamentary constituency boundaries.
Opposition to this proposed constituency boundary prompted a protest at Polson Bridge on October 30. At last week’s meeting of Launceston Town Council’s extraordinary meeting of the planning and economic development committee, the town clerk, Christopher Drake, told councillors he had received notification there are going to be public enquiry events, but added: “The nearest one to us is Truro,” prompting laughter from the committee. Mr Drake added other events are being held at Poole and Bristol.
Cllr Val Bugden-Cawsey said: “Well they are making that accessible for everyone to get to, aren’t they(!)”
