LAUNCESTON Town Council has been asked if it can provide concessionary car parking in the multi-storey car park.
Launceston Town Council owns and manages the multi-storey car park in Westgate Street. There are 128 spaces and two blue badge disabled parking spaces available. Tickets can be purchased for any period of time from one hour to one week.
Mark Jenkins told councillors he has taken on the running of the Westgate Inn, adding: “Now it’s the only car park we can feasibly use that would help us out with our business.
“The county council was prepared to give us [a permit for] the Bell car park for £200 a year. When I phoned Launceston I was told it’s £15 a week and that’s it.”
Mayor Cllr Brian Hogan said the matter needed to be referred to the town council’s finance and general purposes committee, and asked town clerk Christopher Drake to put it on the agenda for the next committee meeting, which is due to take place on December 7.
Cllr Hogan said: “There have been a number of people in the past that have requested concessionary permits.”
