LAUNCESTON Town Council has agreed to further monitoring of its public conveniences, following reports of unsociable behaviour.
The town council’s estates and properties committee heard at its meeting on January 9 that there had been reports of unsociable behaviour in the gents toilets of the multistory car park in Westgate Street.
Minutes from that meeting, which were due to be ratified by the town council at its full meeting on Tuesday, after the Post went to press, read: “A hole had been drilled between the cubicles, and subsequent repairs made were removed including the vandalising of the metal toilet roll holder.
“The police had been informed and cautionary signs placed in the toilets.”
The minutes state the issue ‘appears to have been resolved’, and the minutes continued: “It was agreed that further monitoring of all our public conveniences to be carried out.”
The town council also maintains the public toilets at Race Hill, The Walk and at Newport.
A full town council meeting, at which the town council was set to receive and adopt the minutes of the recent committee meeting, took place on Tuesday evening in the Guildhall.
