AT 6AM on Saturday (November 5), forty-five bleary-eyed members, children and supporters of Launceston Town Band climbed on Tilley's coach to take them to the 65th Annual Championships of the South West Brass Band Association at the Riviera Centre, Torquay.

The senior band played first in the fourth section. They played 'First Suit in Eb' by Gustav Holst, arranged by Sydney Herbert and were conducted by Musical Director Dave Dobson.

Launceston Town Band came first, winning The South Hams Cup, with Midsummer Norton and Radstock and Tiverton Town Band coming second and third respectively.

Steve Brown, Louise Dingle and Jack Ayland won the Jim Baber Cup for the best set of Basses in their section.
