Soon Launceston will be transformed into a ballroom as the North Cornwall Dance Festival comes to town.

The competition welcomes dancers from across the country to compete in a variety of disciplines, including ballet, street, modern, tap, contemporary, lyrical modern and song and dance.

Last year’s event saw hundreds of performers take to the stage to display their talents to a panel of judges.

Organisers hope that this year’s event – which is taking place from February 14 to February 17 at St Joseph’s School – will be as successful.

Festival director Jessica Chu said: “Over the four days we had almost 450 performances from children as young as 18 months up to 19 years old.  A wide variety of genres are included in the festival from acro dance to classical ballet, with soloists, duets, trios and groups all competing.”

For this year’s event, even more competitors have entered with over 27 hours of solos alone!  Our adjudicator this year is Jacqui Ison.  It will be held, again, at St. Joseph’s School, who are our main sponsors and have supported the festival from the very beginning.

The highlight for many though, this year’s festival offers dancers the opportunity to qualify for the All England Dance regional finals in May.  Giving dancers the opportunity to face the very best performers from all over the UK.
