Last Sunday, many family members, friends and personnel of Launceston St John Ambulance, together with the Mayor and Mayoress of Launceston, gathered for a short ceremony conducted by Rev Marilyn Elliott.

Marilyn, a long term member of the division and now its president, dedicated the new doors of the ambulance station to the memory of the late Ray Davey, who was divisional superintendent for many years and also a past president. T

he doors were very kindly donated to the division by Mrs Jean Davey and her family in memory of Ray. The ribbon for the opening of the doors was cut by Emma Clarkson, Ray and Jean's grand-daughter.

At the same time, Marilyn also dedicated a complete new projection system for the hall which was donated by Mrs Gill Perry and her family in memory of her late husband, Rotarian John Perry. Gill has also served as president and her husband has always been a great friend and supporter of the division.

The third dedication was for a plaque and photograph of Mrs Jean Martin who was cadet superintendent for 40 years. These have been kindly donated by her daughter, Mrs Diana Littlejohns in memory of her mother.

Flowers were presented by Caitlin Wood, Lucy Gregory and Jack Salter of the Launceston Badgers to Mrs Davey, Mrs Perry and Mrs Littlejohns, while Cadets Grace Denford and Ann Mallett did so for Emma. Cadet Tamara Clements also presented Marilyn with a St John Ambulance President's Badge.

Refreshments were served in the newly refurbished hall which has been recently renovated and redecorated by Tony Taplin and helpers. Thanks to a recent legacy to Launceston St John, the building has had a new roof, new central heating system and a suspended ceiling in the main hall. This legacy was left to the division by the late Mr Stanley Gilbert. Superintendent Tony Taplin thanked everyone for coming along to the ceremony and helping to make it a memorable afternoon.
