Launceston Town Hall will play host to an exhibition of the Launceston Southern Area Masterplan this coming Friday and Saturday.

The Town Council and Cornwall Council would like to see higher quality development coming forward in Launceston. According to them, to be able to achieve this, a masterplan has been prepared. It offers the opportunity for the Town Council, Launceston residents and Cornwall Council to take a proactive approach to how it believes development in the area should come forward.

An exhibition is due to be held in the Town Hall on Friday, September 28 from 10am to 3.30pm and then again on Saturday from 10am to 1pm. This will allow residents to drop in and see the plans on display and the team behind the developments will be able to answer any questions.

At the full council meeting on Tuesday, September 17 member of the public, Les Whaley was keen to emphasise how important it is for the public to work in tangent with both the town and county councils. He said: “...there is great opportunity to get things right by all working together with the Council and the people they serve.

“The officers at Cornwall Council that I have spoken are looking forward to working with Launceston Town Council, which I know has already started and working with residents to move the plan forward.

“I hope Launceston Town Council will take on board the views of the people and concerns and will setup a working group with residents on both sides of the A388 developments who know their own area to steer Cornwall Council to deliver a sustainable development of housing, education, health facilities, parks and safe play areas together with employment space for shops, offices, commercial, distribution and light industrial and the opportunity for businesses to relocate to Launceston as we are on the A30 this will bring many benefits to our town.”
