THIS year's Launceston Show couldn't have been more different than the previous year. As showgoers basked in the glorious sunshine, it was hard to believe that the 2007 event had to be called off due to severe weather. One year on, there was a great atmosphere at the Kennards House showground last Thursday as people young and old experienced what the event had to offer. Show secretary Jill Stevenson said: "It's been a fantastic day. The weather was kind to us this morning because it was a bit overcast, we've had superb crowds in and the sun came out at 3pm — what more could you ask for really?" The gate numbers were up and there were 320 sheep entries; 106 cattle entries and 206 horse entries. We've had huge numbers this year," added Jill. Trade stands reached the 155 maximum capacity, and organisers will consider allowing more trade stands next year. "We've had some very good trade this year. Everybody seems like they've had a good day," writes Suzanne Cleave.
