A LAUNCESTON resident has called for common sense, in response to the motorists who she says are "abusing" the pedestrianised area that she provides in front of her Dutson Road property.

Jackie Ellis-Martin, a former Launceston Town Councillor and current secretary of the town's Road Safety Partnership, spent around £3,000 two years ago in having the private area located in front of her home made pedestrian friendly, with a focus on providing a safe walking area for children heading to and from school along the narrow road.

Motorists are however using it as a parking and passing spot, with those in large lorries and delivery vans the biggest culprits.
