THE Remembrance events in Launceston on Sunday, November 11 were a great success, providing a fitting tribute to all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice 100 years ago.
On Remembrance Sunday, November 11, the town square was full with locals paying their respects at the town square’s war memorial, where the laying of wreaths took place. A parade to the war memorial was also a highlight, showing just how important the centenary is for the town.
Peter Rowe, president of the Royal British Legion Launceston branch, said: “I’d just like to thank the people of Lanson for the amazing turnout in the square.
“The number of people in the parade has doubled this year and there were lots more children involved. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Royal British Legion with the remembrance events in Lanson this year.”
