DO you live or work in Launceston and feel there is a lack of pedestrian crossings? Now is your chance to have your say by filling in the form below and sending it to the Launceston Road Safety Partnership.

The Launceston Road Safety Partnership, which liaises with Launceston Police and Highways Agency, first formed when there was no school crossing outside the White Horse Inn, Newport.

Since then, there has been a school crossing during the school run in the morning and afternoon, complete with a lollipop lady.

But this is the most recent crossing in Launceston since the Launceston Road Safety Partnership formed some years ago.

Over the past few months, the chairman of partnership and town councillor, Jacki Ellis-Martin, along with the other members of the group, have been thinking of ways to improve the pedestrian crossing situation around the town.

After much thought, the group has devised a petition for the possible sites for new pedestrian crossings around Launceston.

The petition will be distributed around the town and in schools for members of the public to choose the top three locations twhere hey believe a pedestrian crossing would be most needed.

A public meeting will then be held on Friday, October 30 at 7pm, in the Town Hall — to which council and ward members have been invited — where the top three locations chosen by the public will be revealed.

This will then be put forward to Cornwall County Council and if successful another petition will be distributed.
