TO MARK the launch of the 2019 Poppy Appeal, members of the Launceston branch of the Royal British Legion gathered in atrocious weather conditions for the blessing of the ‘Garden of Remembrance’ at the War Memorial on Saturday, October 26, in the Square.
The blessing was carried out by the Legion’s chaplain, Rev Heather West. The town’s mayor Cllr Dave Gordon and deputy mayor Cllr Leighton Penhale also attended the blessing.
The first symbols of Remembrance were made by Rev West and the president of the Launceston branch of the Royal British Legion Peter Rowe. Symbols of Remembrance are available at Specsavers.
