MEMBERS of the Launceston branch of the Royal British Legion spent two mornings counting the Poppy Appeal collection pots recently at Edymead to reveal an incredible total.

Two-hundred pots were individually counted and the amounts listed.

This allows the Royal British Legion to inform each contributor of their individual total. Currently the total raised in the Launceston area is £20,581.

Christine Rowe, the Poppy Appeal organiser for the Launceston branch, is delighted with this and expressed thanks to each individual who collected or had a pot in their establishment.

Christine said: “All money for the Poppy Appeal supports the Royal British Legion. This enables the Legion to be able to give injured service people the confidence and strength to live on after injury. Ex-armed forces men and women can be trained for new careers on civvy street.

“Elderly veterans can have the support they need to live independent lives. The provision of practical and financial assistance enables military families to cope more easily with life’s stresses.”
