CANON David Annear, parish priest of St Cuthbert Mayne, Launceston has released a new book.
What is a quoit? How old is a menhir? Why does the large Celtic cross erected at Saltash in 2013 have any importance today?
In just over 70 pages, this slim volume describes the religious landscape and heritage of North and East Cornwall, from quoits and menhirs to converted Methodist chapels.
There are brief background descriptions of, among other things, the Celtic Church, the Reformation in Cornwall and the various Christian revivals, which have left their visible presence today. The text is illustrated with more than a hundred photos and drawings.
The point of the book is to explain our religious heritage to the local parishioners, and to provide a helpful guide for anyone who loves Cornwall.
Copies are £5 plus £1.50 for postage and packaging.
